About Me

Discover the Beauty of Art Inspired by the Natural World

I have been creating and playing with art and design from a very young age, making it a constant thread throughout my life. Growing up in Derbyshire, I earned my qualifications in art, design, photography, and marketing. Over the years, I have showcased my work in various galleries and shops in locations including Carsington Water, Ashbourne, and Derby, as well as exhibitions in Surrey such as Godalming and the Church Crookham Art Festival.

Spending several months each year in southern Spain provides me with inspiration from its dramatic coastlines, complementing the rolling hills of my home regions in Surrey and Derbyshire. The beauty of both settings deeply influences my art, leading to a rich variety of themes and styles in my work.

Days of My Life

There are moments when we all find ourselves looking back on childhood—remembering a simpler time when happiness came from the little things.

Recently, while visiting Spain, I watched children picking oranges and lemons, playing together by the sea, laughing without a care in the world. It instantly took me back to my own childhood, bringing back treasured memories of picking apples and blackberries, cycling along quiet country lanes, and spending endless summer days playing games like hide-and-seek, egg-and-spoon races, musical chairs, and so many more.

Those memories became the inspiration behind this collection.

I wanted these paintings to capture the innocence, joy, and simplicity of those carefree days. To reflect that feeling, I chose to return to the basics in my artistic style. Like many of us, my first drawings at school were simple stick figures—a style that naturally reminded me of the work of L.S. Lowry.

While Lowry portrayed the industrial landscapes of Salford with smoky chimneys, grey skies, and bustling streets, I wanted to celebrate a different side of childhood—one filled with sunshine, open fields, seaside adventures, and the freedom to explore.

These paintings tell the story of summers that seemed to last forever, where children could spend hours picking fruit, enjoying picnics, and discovering the world around them. Every day brought a new adventure, and the greatest treasures were found in nature, friendship, and imagination—not in screens or technology.

To create this collection, I photographed children enjoying these timeless activities, dressed in simple, classic clothing that remains just as familiar today—white tops, blue skirts, dresses, and jeans. The scenes could belong to yesterday or today, reminding us that some of life’s greatest joys never change.

My hope is that these paintings awaken your own memories, remind you of your children’s adventures, or simply bring a smile to your face. If they make you pause for a moment and remember those carefree days, then they have achieved exactly what they were created to do.
